Deploying Claude: The Technical Playbook

For the team that owns an organization-wide rollout: identity, connectors, security integration, custom tooling through API and MCP, and the admin runbook to hand off.

Leadership has decided to adopt Claude. This workshop is for the team that has to make it real, safely, observably, and in a way the rest of the organization can actually use.

Across two hands-on sessions you will connect Claude to your real systems, configure identity and access, ground it in organizational knowledge through connectors and Projects, and put governance, audit, and security controls in place. Where custom integration is needed, you will build it through the API and MCP.

These are working sessions. You will leave with a configured deployment slice and an admin runbook your team can follow to extend it, covering identity, connectors, security integration, custom tooling, and cost governance.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to deploy and govern Claude across an organization. They will:

  • Map Claude's surfaces and deployment topology to organizational needs, including hosting routes such as Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry
  • Configure identity and access: SSO, SCIM provisioning, custom roles, and connector-level permissions
  • Connect Claude to organizational systems (Drive, Gmail, Slack, GitHub, internal data) and build Projects as shared knowledge bases
  • Implement security, compliance, and audit controls: the Compliance API, audit-log export, and integration with existing SIEM, DLP, and identity tooling
  • Build custom integrations through the API and MCP servers, including embedding Claude in internal tools
  • Govern cost and observe usage, then hand off a documented admin runbook

Topic Outline

Two sessions, six modules

One curriculum · delivered across two hands-on sessions

Module 01Surfaces

Surfaces & Architecture

  • Mapping surfaces to needs, from chat and Claude Code to Cowork and the API, and deciding who gets what
  • Choosing between Team and Enterprise plans, and structuring the organization within them
  • Comparing hosting routes, direct, Amazon Bedrock, Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry, and when each fits
  • Setting data boundaries for residency, retention, and the privacy posture risk-sensitive sectors need
Module 02Identity

Identity, Access & Admin

  • Configuring single sign-on and automated SCIM provisioning / deprovisioning
  • Scoping capability across the organization with custom roles
  • Controlling which connectors, and which tools on them, each role may use
  • Managing organization settings, seats, and enablement controls from the admin console
Module 03Knowledge

Connectors & Knowledge

  • Connecting Drive, Gmail, Slack, GitHub, and internal data sources
  • Building Projects into shared knowledge bases with persistent context, custom instructions, and curated documents
  • Scoping what Claude can see, and keeping retrieval inside policy
  • Packaging connectors and Projects into ready-to-run workflows teams can adopt
Module 04Compliance

Security, Compliance & Audit

  • Using the Compliance API for programmatic access to conversation content and activity event logs
  • Piping activity into existing SIEM, DLP, identity, and observability platforms
  • Exporting logins, admin actions, and configuration changes for audit review
  • Isolating tool execution in sandboxes within your own boundaries
Module 05Integration

Custom Integration: API & MCP

  • Knowing when chat and connectors aren't enough, and building directly on the API
  • Building MCP servers that expose internal systems as governed tools
  • Embedding Claude inside internal tools, bots, and scheduled automation
  • Running Claude headlessly and programmatically with the CI safety flags
Module 06Capstone

Rollout, Cost & the Capstone

  • Governing cost across seat and token spend, with prompt caching and batch processing
  • Measuring who uses what, and where value lands
  • Phasing the rollout from a pilot slice to organization-wide safely
  • Standing up a governed deployment slice end-to-end, and producing the admin runbook to hand off
